Summer Beach Essentials

Hi everyone :)

Now that we are well in to the summer months, I thought I would share my beach essentials with you all. Although I live in Scotland and don't really get a warm summer, I have just recently been on holiday abroad. So here are the important items that I took with me everyday...

1. Sun cream
This is probably the most important thing that I put into my beach bag every morning. I find that starting with a high spf then gradually going to a lower one is the best way for me since I am quite pale and burn pretty easily. Always remember to take your sun cream as the last thing you want is to get burnt (believe me!!)

2. Sun glasses & a hat
These two items are also very important. Sun glasses help to protect your eyes from the suns harsh rays and it is also makes lying on the beach a lot more comfortable and enjoyable. I was quite surprised to see that not many people wore hats when I was away but that didn't stop me wearing mine. I've suffered from sun stroke a couple of times when I was younger just due to the fact I never wore a hat in the sun. So it is now a necessity for me.

3. Books
I know not everyone likes reading but I am a bit of a book worm! I read four books while I was away (Billy & Me by Giovanna Fletcher, Entwined by Heather Dixon, Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella and Its Up To You New York by Tess Daly). I just find reading while sitting on the beach is really relaxing and lovely. If you're a bit like me where you get bored easily, books can really help as they can make you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. Magazines and puzzle books are also good alternatives.

4. I-pod
Like most people, I love listening to music. Its a great way to just completely zone out into your own world while trying to relax and work on you're golden tan. Also if the beach is noisy your music will help be to drown it out. You can watch t.v. shows and movies on your i-pod as well so it can be used for different things depending on how you feel.

5. Phone
I must admit I am one of those people who take their phones everywhere especially if I'm on holiday as I don't like leaving it in the hotel room. I do find my phone useful at the beach as I use it to take pictures since I don't take my camera on holiday with me. Also I like having it as I know i'll be able to contact people - you never know when there's going to be an emergency!

6. Water & Snacks
Always bring water as it is important to stay hydrated when you are out in the sun. Snacks are also needed especially if you are planning to spend the whole day at the beach.

So they are my Summer Beach Essentials, I hope you found it helpful for your're trips to the beach :)

 Freya x
